Fire Resistant Suit
Flame-resistant workwear enquiries for defined industrial tasks and required performance markings.
Fire Resistant Suit: purpose and application
Fire-resistant or flame-resistant workwear is selected to reduce specified exposure risks in a defined task. It is not proof of protection against every flame, arc, chemical or thermal hazard. Industrial workwear and structural firefighter ensembles are different products. The task assessment determines the relevant performance requirements.
Selection and specification
Provide the industry, task, exposure, required standard, sizes and garment style. Consider arc requirements only where they are specifically assessed and documented; a generic FR label is not an arc rating. Fit, closures and compatibility with underlayers and other PPE affect the full clothing arrangement.
Installation, inspection and limitations
Cleaning must follow the care instructions to avoid altering protective performance. Inspect for holes, seam damage, contamination and unauthorised repairs. Garments with hazardous contamination may require controlled handling or replacement. Keep product identity and care information available for the people responsible for issuing and maintaining workwear.
