Fire Fighting Suit
Protective ensemble enquiries for trained fire response teams, based on role and documented performance.
Fire Fighting Suit: purpose and application
A fire fighting suit forms part of a protective ensemble for a defined response role. Structural firefighting, proximity work and general flame-resistant workwear have different requirements. Fabric branding alone does not establish the performance of the complete garment. Suitable respiratory protection, head protection, gloves and boots may also be needed.
Selection and specification
State the operational role, required standard, team sizes and expected exposures. Compare garment layers, thermal and moisture properties, mobility and compatibility with other PPE. Request documentation for the exact suit and configuration. Correct sizing matters because restricted movement or gaps between garments can compromise the ensemble.
Installation, inspection and limitations
Inspect seams, closures, reflective elements and all layers under the manufacturer care programme. Incident contamination requires controlled handling and cleaning; ordinary washing may be unsuitable. Keep use and inspection records and replace equipment when performance is compromised. Protective clothing does not make uncontrolled entry into smoke or fire safe.
