Traffic Cones
Cone enquiries for temporary warnings, route marking and managed site access.
Traffic Cones: purpose and application
Traffic cones provide visible guidance around temporary work, access restrictions and defined routes. Their effectiveness depends on visibility and a coherent placement plan. They do not provide crash protection or a secure physical enclosure. A small indoor warning cone and a cone selected for outdoor vehicle traffic should not be compared by price alone.
Selection and specification
Specify height, material, base weight, reflective features, quantity and storage requirements. Consider the operating environment, wind, traffic speed and viewing conditions within the assessed plan. Accessories such as chains or signs need compatible fixings and should not create a trip or entanglement hazard. Confirm any project-specific marking requirements.
Installation, inspection and limitations
Check that cones remain upright, visible and in the planned positions. Replace cracked, faded or unstable units. Mud, dust and vehicle contact can reduce visibility or damage reflectors. Work arrangements should be monitored as the hazard changes; leaving old cones in place can confuse road users and site personnel.
