Room Integrity Testing
Enclosure leakage assessment enquiries for suitable total-flooding gaseous fire suppression projects.
Room Integrity Testing: purpose and application
Room integrity testing evaluates enclosure leakage relevant to a total-flooding gaseous suppression design. A door-fan test can support an assessment of whether the room retains agent as required by the project design. It is not the same as releasing the extinguishing agent, nor does it replace pipe, control or cylinder checks.
Selection and specification
Provide the agent, design documents, room volume, intended retention criteria, drawings and ventilation details. Doors, ceiling voids, raised floors, dampers and cable penetrations affect the enclosure boundary. The test team needs a defined room configuration and a suitable access opening. A quotation should state the reporting scope and whether leak investigation or repeat testing is included.
Installation, inspection and limitations
Results depend on the tested configuration and the engineering interpretation. Sealing defects or changing ventilation can require retesting. Do not seal openings blindly where they serve a safety or ventilation purpose; coordinate remedial work with the building and system designers. Future cable additions and room alterations should trigger an enclosure review.
What to confirm before ordering
- 01Agent and design acceptance criteria
- 02Defined enclosure boundary
- 03Door, void and ventilation configuration
- 04Report, remedial work and retest scope
Common questions
Does a passing room test certify the whole suppression system?
No. It addresses the enclosure under the tested conditions. Other equipment and control functions still require their own verification.
